The National Action Party (PAN) denounced that of the more than 2,400 candidates for positions in the Judiciary of Mexico City, the Morena party unjustifiably eliminated more than half, configured electoral districts favorably, and manipulated ballots. According to Andrés Atayde from PAN, during the drawing process, there were Morena personnel organizing the procedure, which generated repeated folios and lists with inconsistent names.
Atayde emphasized that the autonomy and future of justice in Mexico City are at risk due to Morena's actions, which could lead to the disappearance of the Judiciary and the annulment of the separation of powers. In this regard, he pointed out that nothing can taint the election of those participating in the legislative process.
Xóchitl Bravo, Morena's coordinator in the local Congress, defended the selection process, urging to refute the allegations of fraud. She highlighted that legality was guaranteed in the actions taken and the people's right to choose their judicial representatives. She affirmed that all work was done properly and that transparency of the process will be documented and exposed.
PAN voted against the list of candidates presented by the Legislative Evaluation Committee, expressing its commitment to defending the Rule of Law and judicial autonomy. Atayde reiterated that the simulation in the selection of candidates is a serious judicial fraud that seeks to control justice in the capital instead of strengthening it.
Morena has been accused of designing a scheme to control justice by filtering profiles from the registry, according to PAN allegations. Tensions between both political forces continue amid an electoral process to occupy positions in the Judiciary of Mexico City.
